Yesterday I fished up up the McCloud arm of Shasta Lake looking for some Trout in the cold clear water. I found some nice fish of course I left camera in the boat. That is always how it works catch nice fish no camera, Haha, o well I found what I was looking for and that is all that matters.

What I also found was a crazy hot Bass bite. While trolling slow back to Hirz bay I was often startled by huge pods of bass suddenly crashing the surface. These Bass were crushing baby shad I was trolling plugs (Rapalas and Lymans) at depths of 20 to 90 feet and caught Bass at literally every depth. Had I not been trying for Trout, I could have focused my effort on shallow water (Surface to 30 feet) and caught Bass all day.

Shasta Lake is beautiful this time of year and the Lake is full of healthy feeding fish, so it is time to get out and enjoy the awesome late summer weather now that the kids are back in school give me a call 530 905 0758 or book online at Caldwellfishing.com
