Today we fished Shasta Lake and found, once again, very good conditions for catching trout and bass.  I sold todays clients a trout trip, but by mid day I think they thought maybe I had soled them a bass fishing trip instead.  We weren't targeting the bass but they were clearly targeting our Bay Rats all day.  Each one of our Bay Rat takedowns, with the exception of a few, ended with a bass hanging off the end of them.  The water is running a cool 48.5 degrees but is a nice emerald green with very little floating debris to speak of.  Most all of our bites came in the 10'-20' range and most came trolling at slower speeds of about 2.5 mph.  I'm hoping for some warmer water in the coming weeks, I really think that will help get the browns stirring a bit more than they have the past few weeks.  Stay tuned, you'll definitely see it here first when they do!
