12/5/18 - December on Shasta Lake is kicking butt, FAT Bow Butt that is, Greg is taking home some fine dinner trout tonight!

Yesterday, my my client Greg had a great day going 8 for 14 trolling for fat Rainbow Trout. We had no luck on the big Browns but that is how it goes sometimes. Trolling Optimizers lathered in Pro-Cure  Threadfin shad gel at 3 to 4 mph was the main lure the fish wanted. We caught other fish in a mix of Rapalas and small plastic swim baits. The fish are all near the surface and you can often see them jumping and crashing on baby shad and bugs.

The weather started out cold an rainy but turned sunny by late afternoon. The Trout didn't seem care as we caught during both poor and nice conditions. The Bass mainly the spotted type are everywhere. We caught half a dozen and some pretty big ones, 3 pounds plus, when we slowed down, they are feeding on anything they can catch.

Shasta Lake is slowly filling back up and is in great shape, with hungry, hard fighting, tasty fish, if you choose keep them. Trophy Browns an Browns are out there so if your looking to hear that clicker sing give me a call my 21ft Willie Raptor has a fully enclosed top and heater to make your fishing experience a comfortable one.

Christmas and New Years are just 20 plus days away. I have the perfect gift certificate stocking stuffers for your fisherman or woman.
