The day did not look promising as we dropped the boat into McCloud Reservoir. As soon as we rolled into the launching area and began prepping the boat to drop it into the water, Mother Nature let loose, so for the first few hours, we trolled for brown trout in a steady rain. We went 1 for 3 on the browns while trolling k-7 kwikfish between 30 and 40 feet deep. The weather began to break and we were blessed for the rest of the day with cloud cover and some spotty sun, as well as excellent fishing. We moved out into the main body of the lake and began trolling Seps dodger with worm trailers and for rest of the day we had either had a bite or a fish on. Bill Bob and John landed close to 30 Trout on day of those 20 something Trout 3 were Browns, which was the goal of the trip from the start. The guys went 3 for 6 on Browns none of which were real big, but we did have a couple they looked good but didn’t stay hooked. McCloud is low but full of hungry Trout and as long as the snow does not build up and block the road it will be great fishing.
