It was a tough day on the river today. My client Robert hooked three Steelhead on the fly and all three spit the fly back. The water is very cold and the Steelies are not very aggressive right now. You have to work the water very slow to get bit. The weather has been all over the place since Christmas, sub...

My clients Cynthia and Dan did not catch many fish today. The bite was pretty slow but what we did catch was quality. Dan landed a nice 3 pounder while backtolling a rebel crawdad plug near the Fishhook restaurant, while Cynthia took the big fish honors with a very fat 5 pounder. I took Conner and my Dad out on the river this afternoon for few hours and they both landed a nice Steelhead. Dad caught and released the first wild Steelhead of 2010. He was side-drifting with a float and a small worm tipped glow-bug, when the 24-inch, 5-pound Buck took the bait. The Steely battled near the bottom the whole time, making short runs...

The weather is so frightful, but the Steelhead fishing is quite delightful, let em bite let em bite let em bite. The bigger adults are taking the crawdad plug everytime out. My friend Phil and I backtrolled crawdad plugs all day and landed 10 Steelhead up to 3 pounds. The two biggest fish one 5 pounds plus did what Steelhead...

Fishing on the upper Klamath has been good the last three days, but cold. Early morning temperatures have averaged 20 degrees, the last few mornings, but have risen into the mid 40's by noon. The temperature starts to drops rapidly back down after 3pm and it has been getting dark shortly after 5pm. We are currently in a full moon phase....
