The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) announces new restrictions on recreational fishing for groundfish in waters north of Point Conception to the Oregon/California border. Changes to authorized fishing depths described below take effect Monday, Oct. 16 at 12:01 a.m., and will remain in place through the remainder of 2017.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will host a free family fishing event Saturday, Oct. 7 at St. Louis Ponds near Woodburn from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
ODFW will release more than 2,000 hatchery trout for the event, ranging in size from 8 to 13 inches.

On Sept. 18, the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) voted to bring groundfish depth restrictions for the balance of 2017 back to 2016 depths in California from Pt. Conception to the Oregon border according to an Oct. 3 article in the Fish Sniffer Magazine.
