Last weeks temps for the Trinity Valley were 98/53 degrees with some cloudy mornings and sunny afternoons. Next weeks forecast is 96/52 degrees with morning cloud and clear sunny afternoons.

The Willow Creek weir counts for the last week and a half has shown that over 800 Steelhead have gone through the weir but after fishing for two days straight my clients only came up with one Steelhead to the boat after three hook-ups. It was frustrating when you know that there were fish in the river and you can't find them. We fished the Del Loma area Saturday and the Salyer to Willow Creek to day with not much better action.

The Junction City section was some what better in that there were fish landed up there. The pigeon Point / North Fork area was OK fishing until about 10:00o'clock when the rafters started to launching and then the bite went south. On these hot days and this Holiday weekend there is usually lots of swimmers and rafters on the river so your best bet is to fish early then get off the water and come back for the late afternoon fish when most of the swimmers have left the water. It is just hard to fish when you have so many people trying to have that " last fling of summer". Labor Day Weekend is just one of those holidays where you have to be patient and remind yourself that the river is NOT just for fishing but for everyone's enjoyment.

September 1st the Trinity River is now open to the take of two adult Chinook except from Hawkins Bar Bridge up to the Cedar Flat Bridge. This section of the Trinity River is now closed to fishing. So the rules are you can keep 3-Salmon per day with 2-adults, 1-jack per day with a total of 12 Chinook per 7-day period, with no more than 4-aduts in possession.

The Mid Klamath from Johnson up to Weitchpec/Orleans area the bite has come back on and they are finally seeing some action again. Last week you could see hundreds of Salmon in the deep holes around Weitchpec and below Orleans and even behind Pierson's store but it is hard to get them to attack anything. I am glad to say that has all changed and the fishers are landing fish again in that part of the Klamath. Until next time-------

Good Fish'en ------ Good Luck and remember: "Keep your Tip up and a tight line lands fish!"
