6-25-2007

Today the Trinity River water releases are down to the regular summer releases of 450cfs.

The new 2007 Sport Fishing Regulations were approved by the Department of Fish & Game Office of Administrative Law June 21 and are now in effect. The new regulation summary is:

3- Chinook Salmon per day with no more than 2-adults over 22-inches and 1 jack in possession, with 12-Chinook Salmon, of which no more than 4-adults over 22-inches in possession in a 7-day period.

1-Hatchery Steelhead or 1-hatchery Trout per day.

5-Germen Brown Trout per day with no more than 10-G.B. in possession after your first day of fishing.

JUNCTION CITY WEIR is in operation as of June 19th. The first week of operation results were:
15-adult Chinook, of which 4 were adipose fin clipped (hatchery).
23-adult Steelhead, of which 17 were hatchery fish.
60-German Brown Trout, 58 over 41-centermeters = 16-1/4 inches.

Note: a large run of Spring Run Chinook was reported to have interred into the mouth of the Klamath yesterday or Saturday night sometime. If this is correct then I would say that the Spring Run has officially started in the Lower-Klamath and that it will be only days before they enter the Trinity.

Good Fish'en ------ Good Luck and remember: "Keep your Tip up and a tight line lands fish!"
