The area is predicted to start to cool down from Wednesday and the river should be fishable by the weekend. Up River down to the Willow Creek area should start to be fishable in the early morning. For the out of area fishers, you can get up before sunrise get to you spot by sunrise fish until the sun hits the water, go back to camp take a nap, have some lunch, then get ready to go back fishing before dark. All of this should be good fore the weekend IF the predictions are correct!

 

At the present time the river flows have been increasing slightly so you will have to be a little careful wading and for the swimmers please use caution while swimming or floating as the current has increased. We have already had too many water accidents this year.  Junction City weir summary: At the present time the Junction City weir is the only trapping/counting station for the rivers. As of now I do not have an up to date reading.- Julian Week 27, ending on July 8, 2026; Chinook Salmon, 8-jack, 99-adult, total 107, 17-hatchery, season total 107; Coho Salmon, o- fish; Steelhead, 1-1/2pounder, 9-adult, total 10, season total 38; Brown Trout 9, season total 34.
Lewiston Lake: I have not received an up to date report from Lewiston Lake. I see that the Lewiston Lake is receiving 1,465cfs from Trinity Lake and releasing 444cfs into the river. Willow Creek area: Willow Creek has been slow fishing because of low and warm water flows. The low and warm water flows have been causing moss to grow which can cause the fishing to be harder. Up River the water is much cooler and the fishing has been better. The North Coast Outfitters is back on the river so if you would like to know what the fishing is like you could call them. This summer has been HOT so far but a cooldown is expected.

 

Mid-Klamath to Happy Camp: The Mid-Klamath creel count and counting stations have not started up yet but will start soon and I should have better information for you then. The Klamath River at Weitchpec is flowing N/A cfs. This is an increase of N/A cfs. The Iron Gate/Bogus Creek area is flowing 869cfs an increase of 781cfs from the last report.  The river is still flowing fair up river but getting warm. The lower river at Terwer Creek is 73.7 degrees, about the limit that Salmon to move into the river. Lake Conditions: Trinity Lake is at 1,891,888AF, a decrease of 29,156AF. We are already seeing lowering of the lake storage. Whiskeytown Lake is 99%, a decrease of 0% with inflows of 966cfs and releases of 1,073cfs.  Shasta Lake is 66% of capacity, a decrease of 3% and minus 5ft with inflows of 3,548cfs and releasing 11,630cfs into Keswick. Keswick is 93% of capacity, a decrease of 2% with inflows of 12,830cfs and releases of 11,869cfs into the Sacramento River. Oroville Lake is 72% of capacity, a decrease of 5% and minus 12ft, with inflows of 7,601cfs with releases of 13,660cfs into the Feather River. Folsom Lake is 71% of capacity, a decrease of 14% and minus 18ft, with inflows of 2,419cfs with releases of 11,869cfs into the American River. 

 

Trinity Lake: The lake is 37ft below the overflow, an increase of 2ft and 77% of capacity, a decrease 1%, with inflows of 257cfs and releasing 1,465cfs into Lewiston Lake with 1,021cfs being diverted to Whiskeytown and on to the Keswick Power Plant, and releasing 11,869cfs into the Sacramento River, a decrease of 1,010cfs. 

 

Trinity River flows and conditions: Lewiston Dam is 95% of capacity, a decrease 2% and water releases of 444cfs into the Trinity River, with water temperatures of 52 degrees, as of 0:00pam today Aug. 3, 2026 Limekiln Gulch is 4.84ft. with flows of 457cfs. Douglas City is 6.67ft with flows of 485cfs and water temperatures of 62.4 degrees. Helena is 9.10ft with flows of 429cfs with water temps of 66.9 degrees. South Fork of the Trinity near Hyampom is 2.65 with flows of 76cfs. Willow Creek is estimated at 505cfs, air is 76 degrees and water at 70.2 degrees, Hoopa is 11.21ft with flows of 644cfs with water at 73.4 degrees. 

 

Klamath River flows and conditions: Iron Gate/Bogas Creek is 1.68ft with flows of 869cfs, an increase of 781cfs. Seiad Valley is 1.88ft with flows of 1,049cfs. Indian Creek is 3.26ft with flows of 39cfs. Happy Camp is estimated to be 1,088cfs, Somes Bar is estimated to be N/A cfs, and the Salmon River is 1.58ft with flows of 229cfs. Orleans is N/Aft at N/A cfs, the Klamath River with flows of Terwer Creek at 7.78ft and flows of 2,438cfs with water temps of 73.7 degrees. Flows for the Smith River at Jediah Smith are 4.50ft with flows of 275fs. and flows at Dr. Fine Bridge are 11.24ft at N/A.

 

Temperatures for the Valley last week had a high of 101 and a low of 53 degrees. Rain for the week was 0.00in with a water year total to date of 38.57 and 1.45in of snow in Willow Creek. The predicted temperatures for next week are for high of 99 and a low of 54. We are expecting some cooler weather for the weekend which will help increase the fishing efforts.
