I am getting a little better with the new computer but still have much?Įimprovement to go so please bare with me and we will try to get out a?Įfishing report.
I still don't have a complete summary of the Willow Creek weir report as we?Įwere all at the fishing meeting in Weaverville, then attended the TRRP?Į(Trinity River Restoration Program) meeting there also. I hope I can have?Įsome better information for you next week. I do know that the rains last?Įweek moved fish all over the river and that a new run of Steelhead are on?Įtheir way for the Trinity. I suspect that these fish will be the fore?Įrunners of the Winter Steelhead run and that the majority of these fish will?Įbe Native stock or as some of you say "Wild Fish".
The upper section of the Trinity has slowed down for fishing some what from?Įthe Junction City area and is not HOT Iron Head fishing at the present, but?Įthe Lewiston to Douglas City has turned on for back trolling roe. One drift?Įboat reported hooking 15 - 20 adult Steelies but was using lighter leaders?Įbecause of the clear water and lost about 8 to 10 fish. But landing five to?Įten adults in on days fishing is not a bad day of fishing, I would say. I do?Įknow that the fish are moving around a lot because of the rain and cold?Įtemperatures. I fished the Junction City run yesterday and we were blanked?Įon fly fishing but several of the bank fishermen using roe did pretty good?Įby hooking up to some nice adults 6 to 10lbs. We didn't see very many?ĮSteelhead in the river so that tells me that many of the fish that were?Įholding in that section of the river started to move either up to the?Įhatchery or into some of the larger feeder streams. That was the good part?Įof the rain in that it opened up some of the streams so the fish could go up?Įthem. It also raised the river two to four feet in many of the areas, the?Įbad part. Down in Hoopa the river came up to just under four feet.
The Upper Klamath was still mucky and had lots of brown algae foam along the?Įbanks, but as you came on down river to the Happy Camp area the water?Įstarted to clear up some. The river is still a little high in the Weitchpec?Įto Somes Bar area but it is fishable from the banks. I don't think I would?Įbe in a hurry to run a drift boat down the river yet but with no rain in the?Įforeseeable future that will change very soon. I am not sure if the lower?Įsection of the Klamath is fishable yet but the "NO RAIN" part should change?Įthat soon also. I hope the rain will help to start to clear the water?Įquality in the upper river area and make the fishing better but I just think?Įit is going to take some action from the legislators to make a meaningful?Įchange in the water quality. I do know that the grass roots movement is?Įstrong and working hard to get something done. Let's keep our fingers?Įcrossed and hope for the best as the Klamath was once a mighty producer of?ĮSalmon and with some help it could be again. Until next time -----------
