I finally got off the fire and on the water, and the winter steelhead are making their appearance in the lower klamath river. Today we caught well over 30 fish and most of them still had see lice on em. You could see schools of steelhead in the shallows as we past by in just about every hole. Most of the fish we caught and saw today were shiny half pounders, and that's usually a good indicator of the kind of the run we can expect to see. The half pounders enter the river in front on the bigger steelhead, kinda like the jacks do for the bigger salmon. The Klamath is pretty low just like the rest of the rivers on the west coast but the difference is the color we have. The river is green and the fish are bitting. See you on the river.
