Medicine Lake

Chelsey the FishSlayer is back!! Chelsey, Doug and I fished Medicine Lake for the first time this year and it could not have been much better. I'd say anytime you catch and release over 45 Trout, the day could not be much better. Jigging (Buzzbomb), Trolling (Sep's kick-dodger with a worm), Fly fishing (woolley booger bugger) were all fish catching methods. It...

Klamath River - Upper - CA

The Klamath River from the hatchery on down is now at a fishable level. Monday, it fished poorly, due in part to the rapid decrease in flow, the river dropped from 3000cfs to 1000cfs, in less than 10 days. Monday was a full Moon to boot. I got a report from the hatchery that they released some nice hatchery Steelies that...

McCloud Reservoir

The conditions at McCloud Reservoir are the best they have been so far this season. The water is up and the fish are hungry. Sunday, I landed 20 Trout up near the castle, and all were caught after 1 in the afternoon. Almost any method of fishing will work right now. The Trout are also taking dry flies, as numerous hatches are occuring throughout the day. A lot of the...

McCloud Reservoir

Last Saturday, Guy Ives and I fished McCloud Reservoir and caught fish on just about everything we used. We ended up catching and releasing 25 Trout some close to 20 inches and 2 pounds. We mainly fished the river near Hearst Castle. Bouncing bait,  flies (Woolley "Booger" Bugger), and trolling a Sep's dodger with a worm trailer were the most effective methods. The reservoir is in great shape as...
