Chetco is low and clear

Chetco River

The river is low and clear, but the boats are still catching plenty of fish, both wild and hatchery. This past week, most of action has centered from down river of Loeb Park. Some rain is in the forecast for Friday, and the river is predicted to see a slight rise.

Pacific herring finally made their way into Crescent City Harbor in large numbers today (Wednesday). Some anglers, like this fishermen, were taking home herring by the bucketful.

Tony Sepulveda, owner-guide of Green Water Fishing Adventures and several other boats fishing alongside with him had quite a lot of success on the Chetco River last week. Here, Tony is holding a steelhead in the upper teens that a client caught while side-drifting a Puff Ball-and-roe setup.

Klamath River - Upper - CA

Mid Klamath: the Klamath is still flowing super big form I-5 down but could start to clear up some down to Happy Camp in the next week or so. Iron Gate Dam is releasing 1,860cfs and Seiad Valley is down to 4,430cfs and with no rain in the next week or so that section of the Klamath could be fishable....

Pine creek was still blocked by a land bridge a couple feet higher than the creek yesterday afternoon. Cold temps keeping things iced up in the estuary. Flow is spreading out in the flats & freezing over. Looks good but once the water busts thru the land barrier it will suck right down. But it will take a lot more...

Klamath River - Upper - CA

Klamath: Iron Gate Dam releases are 1,860cfs. Seiad Valley is 5.3ft at 4,430cfs. Happy Camp is estimated at 5,027cfs. Somes Bar is estimated at 9.4Kcfs. Orleans is 9.1ft. at 12.5Kcfs. Klamath at Terwer Creek is 15.6ft at 26.2Kcfs and water temperatures of 47.1 degrees. Flows at Smith River, Dr. Fine Bridge are 9ft at 4,290cfs....
