Our Wonderful Resident Grey Whales are starting to show up right on time this year!  This is a huge relief to us as last year they were about a month late.  We also had an Orca Pod here yesterday!  They have been showing up more frequently than usual.

This year our Kelp started forming again about 6 weeks ago which is critical for our Whales main diet.  Last year our Kelp didn't start growing until the end of June which was concerning.  Some of our Residents didn't stop and ended up off of Vancouver Island.

The Mysid Shrimp thrive in the Kelp.  They are the size of a fingernail clipping and our Grey Whales consume a ton a day to stay alive.  Amazing such a small creature can sustain such a Giant!

This is why we have been a member of the Oregon Kelp Alliance for years now.  Kelp supports all the wildlife in our oceans and is critical.  Our ocean ecosystem relies on this incredible plant.  Please support ORKA as we do!

We are closed today in observance of Memorial Day to truly appreciate our Heroes.  We would not have our freedoms without our phenomenal Military and Veterans.  Those Lost at Sea and our Resuers top the list also.
