Fishing at McCloud Reservoir the past week has been as hot as the weather.

Catching limits of tasty brown and rainbow trout doesn’t get much easier.  Trolling the surface down to 45 feet with dodgers and wedding ring spinners or hootchie skirt spinners tipped with shrimp/krill oil night crawlers is the hot set up. Small spoons and plugs have also been effective.

Trout are all over the lake. I chose to stay in main body channel over deep water all week. Every trip this week caught over 40 trout many of which we released.  The Trout we kept are clean and fabulous table fair.

Temperatures rose this week but McCloud is extremely comfortable from sun up to early afternoon, the colder water makes for a nice natural air conditioner. Many of my clients even took a little dip to cool off around noon. The scenery as always is as fabulous as the fishing. Eagles, Osprey, deer and a Bear have made appearances.

Give me a call 530 905 0758 I have a few open days in the next couple weeks after that I will be busy with my family for a few weeks.

Check out my booking calendar and give me a call. July, August and September fishing options on McCloud, Shasta, Siskiyou, Whiskeytown are awesome.
