Lake Sabrina Boat Landing has come to the difficult decision to close for the season. With the hot and very dry weather, we don’t foresee the Forest Service opening the forest next week and that would be just about when we would be closing. We are also still getting a lot of smoke up at the Lake – doesn’t make for fun breathing days. The days seem to start off beautiful with blue skies, then the smoke comes rolling in and sometimes really quick! It all depends on which way the air is flowing.

The Inyo National Forest remains closed thru September 30th – this means no recreation in the Forest – NO Hiking, NO Fishing, NO Camping, NO Dispersed Camping, and NO hunting. When the forest opens back up, you will be able to hike and fish the Lake and creeks until November 15th when fishing season closes.

Just also an FYI for you hikers once the Forest reopens, we received an email from the president of the Aspendell Homeowners Assoc – “Residents have just reported to me that last night, Thursday, 9/24/20, a bear broke into a home on Sage Drive and a car at home next door. I also learned sometime Tuesday and/or Wednesday, a bear stood up and pushed on the door of a home on the upper end of Alpine Drive. Cardinal Village Resort also had a bear break in a car and get into coolers within the last two or three days.” We have asked repeatedly for bear boxes at the Sabrina Basin trailhead, we are hoping that with the work on the spillway is finished that Forest Service will put a couple of bear boxes at the trailhead. We’ve only been asking for about 17 years.

We would like to thank all of you who supported our business and supported us for the season.

Hope to see you next year. Stay safe and stay healthy.
