The second week of March exploded with not only HUGE trout being caught as you can well see, but the Bass are active and very aggressive too. Regina Chung's perfect vacation ended with an enormous 7 lb. 5 oz. Rainbow she caught and landed from shore down by the dam. She holds the title for her family fishout-WOW REGINA! Jerlene Schumacher of Reno, NV outdid her husband's 3 pounder with her very own 7.5 lb. while "float tubing". Wes Ahrens caught an 8 lb.12 oz. Hefty Bow with a blue tag while trolling near the dam. Jim Foster & Captain Dan teamed up against a 6 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow with a Free Ice Cream Tag, oh yum!! Trolling a Blue/Silver Kastmaster helped Geno Charles catch a 6 lb. 4 oz. near the dam. The fun has only just begun because these biggies were caught on March 7th only. On March 8th & 9th it just continues to escalate. Tom Hudec brought up a 7 pounder trolling Needlefish. Bill Bebo hauls in an 8 lb. 8 oz. 27" long. Bill's bait of choice was a Fire Tiger broken back Rapala. Dave Dickens of Beale AFB nets a 5 lb. 11 oz. trolling with a Needlefish. Ben Wells of Oroville was the 1st one to report catching Crappie. He caught 2 nice Crappie along with 3 trout, his biggest 4 lb. 12 oz.
John Baba of Marysville fishes mostly down by the dam from the shoreline and his big break came on 3/9 when he caught a 5 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow on Lemon Twist Powerbait. Uncle Tom Baker brought up Gracie, Hannah, & Jordan and what a first time fishing trip that turned out to be. Their biggest weighed in at 7 lb. 14 oz. plus 5 other Rainbows, all caught on Kastmasters off the sand beach.
Just yesterday 3 young good looking guys from Marysville found the "Bass hole" up by the bridge. They each took home 2 each but collectively caught & released 50 BASS. They were fishing in only 5 feet of water, using Sinkos and drop shotting from a boat. Dave Callison caught & released 10 bass earlier in the week also.
We will receive another trophy trout plant with tags the end of this week so oil that squeaky rod and get your line in the lake soon!!
