Lower Klamath NWR, Siskiyou County
Barrow's and Common Goldeneye are colorful and noisy. Male Common Goldeneye have a white spot below the eye. Barrow's sport a crescent patch. Squeaking pinions in their wings identify them in flight.Photo by Larry Arbanas

At the time this photo was taken (2009) Trinity Lake was at one of its lowest points. Rainfall in a wet year helps but it is snow melt from the surrounding Trinities that keeps this lake well supplied.Photo by Roger Briggs
