Heads Up: Topaz Trout Derby opens Jan. 1
By Mike Mogler
12/24/12 -- Here’s a heads up for the upcoming Topaz Trout Derby starting Tuesday, January 1, along with the lake opener for the year. The Topaz Lodge Casino is sponsoring the tournament with tagged fish worth cash prizes, slot play, and fishing gear for the lucky anglers on the April 14 drawing. A California or Nevada fishing license is needed to fish Topaz Lake.
All anglers must be present at the drawing starting at approximately 7 p.m. April 14 in order to cash in on the prizes given away that night. For more information contact the General Store at Topaz Lake at 775-291-4909 and check out the flyer below or go to the Topaz Lodge website and click on events.
According to Carilyn Albin, manager of the general store at Topaz Lake, the tagged fish have been planted and T shirts for the tournament are now available. Tournament fishing can be a challenge as well as very rewarding, so why not give it a try. It will be a great time for all. Keep fishing and keep a light line.Fishing Reports
