Salmon fishing still hot off Eureka
By Frank Galusha
06/23/12 -- "I think we are all getting a little spoiled," wrote Northwind Charters' Matt Dallam about yesterday's salmon fishing off the coast of Eureka. "Fishing slowed down today, Yep, we had 7 limits of salmon but it took a little longer." Longer? The boat was in by 11.30 a.m.!
As Dallam said, "we all were surprised, but really, that is still really good fishing, folks."
And that is it! I've spent many a morning off Humboldt, even when the fishing was quite good trolling for salmon and had to wait many hours longer before getting even my first strike.Dallam said he had a great crew yesterday. Jordan, a client that has been with them since the very beginning of Northwind Charters was there, and a recent return client Satria and his dad Arief who is not only a sweet man, he landed the biggest fish today at 21 lbs.! "Thanks also go out to the three amigo’s Mike, John and Allen! What a great team today guys, thanks for the co-operation and making things go really smoothly!"
Light winds and excellent oceans conditions are in the offing for the next few days so if you want to get into on some of the salmon action or even a shot at a multi-species trip, give Dallam a call (707) 616-5803. He might have some seats on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday so call now before they're gone.Fishing Reports
