Lake Almanor bite on; streams close Nov. 15
11/12/11 -- Geritol Cove, Rec. 2 Red Beach and the Springs are all producing fish according to recent reports from the Almanor Fly Fishing Company. Browns are chasing streamers while the rainbows can be found around the weed beds. Fly fishermen love to fish Geritol Cove and can always find fish in that area. Fish seem to stack up in the Cove. Evenings can be somewhat crowded with float tubers utilizing the cove for some beautiful trout.
Fishing near Almanor, Mill Creek, Deer Creek, The North Fork of the Feather, Yellow Creek, Deer Creek, Goodrich Creek and the Susan River will close 11/15. Fishing is should be good on the creeks until the closing date.
Lake Almanor, the Hamilton Branch of Almanor and Butt Valley Reservoir will remain open.
Anglers fishing Antelope Lake are doing well on nice size rainbows and brooks. Butt Valley reservoir fishing is fair with the Powerhouse not running and the reservoir water fluctuating. The upper elevation lakes such as Silver, Crater, McCoy and Caribou are slow and will be experiencing light snowfall as the week ends.
While the northern region creeks close on 11/15 there are many other places to fish. Go out and have a great time fishing. Practice catch and release on wild fish and remove the barbs.
