McCloud Reservoir Fish Report for 8-14-2012

by Scott Caldwell

Fishing at McCloud remains as hot as the weather. Despite triple digit temperatures the Trout continue to bite throughout the day. My clients Bob an Tom of Alameda had a not stop bite, from the moment we put our lines in the water at 6:30am, until we quit around 1 pm. The majority of the Trout are Rainbows but we did land 5 Browns as well. The Trout are ranging in size from 1/2 pound to 21/2 pounds and are very healthy. They put up a great battle on my ultra light 6ft6 Rogue rods and Pflueger reels spooled with 6 pound Yo-Zuri hybrid line. Sep's dodgers with worm trailers, K-7 Kwikfish, and broken back Rapalas have been working really well for me. I have been using Pro-Cure Shrimp/Krill gel on everything I put in the water and I cannot complain with results!! I have some open days this month if you are looking for some great Trout action. I can be reached by phone at 530 905 0758, or email me at
