The weather is hot and so is the fishing. The weather has been in the mid nineties for the last 10 days, but that has not affected the fishing at McCloud Reservoir or Trout Lake. Trout Lake in Montague has been kicking out a lot of Bass over the last couple of weeks. The last few times out have produced no less that 50 Bass and as many as 80. Four to six inch plastics worms have been producing the best bite but we have also picked up some Bass on top water Zara puppy spooks. The size of the Bass has been right around a pound but we have picked up some in the 2 to 4 pound class. On Wednesday, I fished McCloud Reservoir with my clients Dale and Adrienne Grissen of Hornbrook and had and a fantastic day landing a little over 50 Trout. Trout are all over the lake and limits are easy to get, every method from bait to flies will produce Trout. We trolled small crawdad, hotshot, and kwikfish plugs as well Seps dodgers with worm trailers from the Castle to the bridge. I have been starting my trips around 6am in the morning when the weather is cooler but the fish have been biting all day regardless of the heat. Fishing pressure is very light so if you are looking for some peace and quiet, amazing scenery, and excellent fishing give me call.
