The cold rainy weather has not slowed the Trout bite at McCloud Reservoir at all. I took my son Conner fishing on Sunday and we caught and released 20 Rainbow Trout in a few hours of fishing. We caught all the Trout trolling a Seps dodger with a worm trailer. The key to getting bit is going slow (1mph or less) and trolling in an S pattern. Most of the Trout we landed were fat 14 to 16-inchers, we did land a few that were close to 18 inches, and lost a couple that were over 20-inches.

The Klamath River is fishing well for Steelhead now that the Salmon are spawning, glowbugs under an indicator, sidedrifting or bouncing roe, hotshot and worms will catch fish. The rain has not muddied the river and it is flowing at 1350cfs so now is the time to go.
