Eagle Lake is producing some nice Trout right now. Guy Ives and I  fished for 4 days at Eagle Lake last week (Thursday to Sunday). We landed 28 out of a possible 44 Trout (3 to 5 pounds) over the four days. Trolling Rapalas and Sep's dodgers (smeared with Pautzke Krill Paste) with worms or flies worked the best for us. The Trout are still somewhat scattered around the lake; the Airstrip, Eagles Nest, and the Youth Camp areas were all good. Many of the fish are moving into the shollow water and up into the tullies as they look to spawn and feed on tui chubs. The weather was pretty good, for this time of year. We only had to deal with some nasty fog one day, that required GPS to navigate. The other days were a mix of cold temperatures, clouds, wind and Sun. All normal for this time of year. Eagle Lake will be open until the end of December so now is the time to go.
