I have been fishing with family and friends for the last week at McCloud Reservoir and the fishing has been fantastic. I spent four days on the water and we hooked over 100 Trout, bringing 90 of them to the net. Yesterday, we landed 18 and that was the lowest total of the four days. The best day was last Thursday and we boated 40 Trout. Who says you can't catch fish on a full moon. Slow trolling (.8 to 1.5mph) a Sep's dodger with a fly (woolley booger bugger) or a worm was the ticket. The fish are not hard to find, they are hanging just off the points, right out from the boat launch in the main body of the lake. The morning bite is better than the afternoon bite, but you can catch fish all day. The river arm is holding a lot of fish, but the water is very clear you need have a stealthy approach. The Rainbow Trout are in great shape, most of the Trout we caught and released were 15-inches or better. The biggest Trout was 2 pounds and close to 20 inches.

***Fall Salmon season (Photo 2005 season) on the Klamath River is just around the corner. Last year, Salmon started showing up in the Hornbrook area around the 15th of September and lasted about a month. The early part of the season was the best time. This season will be much different than past seasons. The limit will be two jacks (Salmon under 22 inches) and one Steelhead (over 16 inches). Salmon and Steelhead cards will be required to fish in the river. The cost is about $6.50 for both. In light of the new restrictions, I will offer a discount for those that book a trip early. Call 530 905 0758. Dates available Sept 20-29, October 2-6, 8-15

***Steelhead season will follow directly after the Salmon season (November & December--Photo 2005 season) and if you book a trip early I will offer a discount as well.

***I am offering fishing trips to Eagle Lake. The fishing gets better as the weather starts to get worse. Last years trip after Thanksgiving the average Trout weighed close to four pounds and we caught 35 of them (Photo). So if your interested in catching 2 to 8 pound Trout give me a call 530 905 0758.
