The mornings are now very brisk on the Sacramento River and the boat rides downstream from Anderson to Corning at first light are quite cold most mornings now.  The salmon fishing has been steady for guides and anglers alike for a good month now.  The highlights have certainly been some of the bigger salmon we're catching.  We've caught quite a few salmon in the 22-29 lb range and have put clients on a 34.5 and 41 lb King earlier this month.  As our salmon fishing shifts north, we will begin to see some really big Kings caught in the Anderson area where most the the Sacramento River Kings are headed now.  Catch numbers improved a bit over the weekend, but our best fishing in the Anderson area has yet to come.  We've had seasons in recent years with much smaller salmon so what this run may lack in numbers, its making up for in the size of some of these 4 year old Kings.  I won't be surprised to hear of a 50 plus pound King caught in the Sacramento River any day now. We've seen a good mix of egg bites and plug bites this season.  It seems like we're seeing a bit of both at any given time throughout the day.  Our fall salmon season is sold out, but we're booking late fall salmon fishing trips through December 31st this year.  The late fall Kings are smaller in number than the fall Kings, but these big bright kings are worth every ounce they possess as a great eating salmon.  With a rapid migration up river, the late fall salmon are often the biggest and brightest salmon we fish for all year.  We'll have a few guides fishing Late fall salmon trips so give us a call if you would like to get after some of these prized King salmon in November and December.  Thank you!  Call Jaynie at (530) 510-2925 for more information!
