Blue Sky fishing for Bows on Shasta Lake, John's first time fighting Shasta bows and he got a lesson on how hard these fish fight especially when they get close to boat, Trinidad tackle and Berkley gulp was the hot combo today - Caldwellfishing.com

Shasta Lake Trout action was steady yesterday. The fish were between 40 and 90 feet depending on what part of the lake you were at. All the fish are feasting on shad so find the bait balls and fish will not be far off. Big 9 inch Trinidad Tackle dodgers with Berkley gulp emerald shiners was the hot combo at first, then Rapala bx swimmers in shad color enticed the fish to bite again.

Covering ground on Shasta lake is always the key. These fish have so much food they go on an off the bite, so trollibg a big area is a must. You will come across more biting fish that way. Fish size is very good, average is 2 to 4 pounds but there are some 5 to 10 pounders in there too. Obviously, the 5 to 10 pound fish are harder to come by but that is what is awesome about Shasta Lake they are there and they do bite.

Don't miss out on September to December theses are fantastic months for bigger bows and browns on Shasta give me a call and we can talk about your fishing options.
