Captain Justin and I fished clients on Shasta lake today.  We fished half day trips and have to admit the bite was slower than normal, at least before 11:00.  Some days the afternoon will pick up, but an afternoon bite wasn't and option today.  None of the fish we cleaned today had Shad in them, but plenty of plankton.  Its hard to get the bites we need when the trout are eating plankton and ont baitfish.  I'm seeing some shad on the surface, but they just havent't captured the interest of the trout just yet.  Fortunately, we're able to fish for salmon and find a few keepers each day.  Hopefully I'll have some good reports by weeks end.  In the meantime we'll keep working hard and scratching out fish day to day until it blows wide open!  Thank you!
