NOAA Fisheries, in consultation with ODFW, has closed the non-selective ocean coho fishery from Cape Falcon to Humbug Mountain as of Friday, Sept. 8. The quota is projected to be reached by the end of the day on Thursday, Sept. 7 so the season will close effective Sept. 7 at 11:59 p.m.

“There were good ocean conditions for the first few days of the season and good catch rates for coho,” said Chris Kern, ODFW deputy fish division administrator.

Fishing for Chinook salmon remains open. Keep up to date on changes to ocean salmon seasons by signing up for email or a text alerts at dfw.state.or.us/mrp/salmon/
