Fishing on the Upper Klamath ( below Irongate Reservoir ) for Winter Steelhead has been great the last couple weeks. The Steelhead have been gorging themselves on everything they can get in the mouths and it is making for steady action throughout the day. Every method from bouncing bait to swinging flies has produced fish. We have been landing upwards of 20 fish in the 1/2 to 11/2 pound class and mixing in 3 to 5 adult Steelhead in the 2 to 6 pound class each trip. These fish are aggressive and fight hard for their size, it is a blast on 6 to 8 pound spin/casting gear or 5 to 7 weight fly rods. The weather has been very mild with temperatures in the 32 to 60 degree range. We have not had substantial winter storms yet, but last night and early this morning we received some ligth rain, although the wind is pushing it out of the area. December is shaping up to be a great month and bigger adult Steelhead are making there way up to spawn. Checkout my Booking Calendar to see what days are available.
