It is Winter Steelhead time on the upper Klamath River. We are catching Steelhead in the 2 to 5 pound class with a lot of 1/2 to 1 1/2 pound Steely Trout mixed in. Bait, flies and plugs are all producing fish for those that are out trying, traffic on the river has been extremely light since the end of Salmon season. My clients Bob and Sarah landed five adult Steelhead today, the biggest going 4 pounds and 22 inches. Four out of the five adults were landed while backtrolling a rebel crawdad plug the other was landed on a jetdiver and worm combo. The weather is pretty mild for the beginning of winter, morning temperatures are in the 28 to 32 range with highs around 50 in the afternoon. Give me a call if you are looking to get in some great fishing with some peace and quiet mixed in.
