July has been a busy month for me. Not so much for fishing but for family and the house. As we all know the bigger the yard the more work involved, good thing I picked the hottest month on record to work outside HaHa!! The last 10 days have been spent with my immediate family (Brother, Dad, Nephew, Nieces and my Son). We have been fishing McCloud Reservoir and Medicine Lake. The fishing has been great at both places as well as wonderful scenery. The temperatures have dropped from the low 100's to low 80's making life much more pleasant. Browns, Brookies and Rainbow Trout up to 21/2 pound have been the norm and limits are not hard to get. We have be trolling Seps dodgers with 2-inch watermelon grubs very slow .5 to 1.5 mph in an S pattern this will get the offerings down close to 20 feet. We have also been vertically jigging 2 1/2 inch pink Buzz bombs at 20 to 50 feet depending on where the fish have been showing up on my Humminbird Matrix87c. The Fall Salmon season on the Klamath River is just around the corner (late September thru October) so if you have not booked your trip now is a good time. The days fill up fast and the weekend days are the first to go.
